Local Detroit-area Nissan and Infiniti dealers to invade NAIAS

The show must go on! In this case, we're talking about what's arguably the most important auto show in America: Detroit. It'll be a cold day in Hell January for fans of Nissan's finest, as the Japanese automaker has officially pulled out of the proceedings. The event will still attract a huge audience, despite the horrible economic state that many Michiganders find themselves in, and there's no way that the local Nissan and Infiniti dealerships want all that foot traffic ogling every brand but theirs. Thus, none of us should find it too shocking that said dealers will be making their own display in January in Detroit.

Nissan pulls out of Detroit and Chicago auto shows

Following the lead of Porsche, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Ferrari, Land Rover and Rolls-Royce, Nissan has announced that it won't be present at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, otherwise known as the Detroit Auto Show. But Japan's third largest automaker is going one step further than the others and also pulling out of the Chicago Auto Show in February.

Volkswagen mid-engine roadster coming to Detroit, not LA

Automotive News is reporting that Volkswagen has moved the debut of its mid-engine roadster from this month at the LA Auto Show to January at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The only reason given for the move is that VW expects there to be more interest for the concept two-seater in Detroit than LA. We would hazard a guess that it's also got something to do with budgets being trimmed back, but what do we know.
