Senior Discount! Dodge offers employee pricing to AARP members
Joining Denny's, Dunkin' Donuts and Dairy Queen, Dodge has rolled out its version of a discount for the geriatric among us. While the aforementioned restaurants will cut prices for anyone generally over the age of 50, Dodge is seeking card-carrying AARP members (it's $12.50 per year, in case you need to join). Presenting a valid AARP card at the time of sale will get you "Employee Pricing" (or better) on all 2008 and 2009 Dodge vehicles except the Sprinter, Challenger, and Viper SRT 10 ACR models. According to the fine print, the program isn't compatible with other national incentives and it expires (the incentive program, not Chrysler LLC) on January 2, 2009. There's also a $200 fee just to be eligible for the offer, which our penny-pinching parents aren't going to like one bit. Thanks for the tip, MarkWeb!
SEMA 2008: 10 Challengers worth loving or loathing

The Chevrolet Camaro may be the "official" vehicle of SEMA, but you can't walk more than a few feet without tripping over the Pentastar's new pony car. The Dodge Challenger is a ubiquitous presence on the floor this year, only matched by the number of mediocre booth babes and the appropriately cheap parts they're paid to shill.

Yesterday we got a preview of the Classic Design Concepts Group 2 Widebody Challenger, and today we made sure to hunt down both versions on the SEMA show floor to get some photos. Both feature an appearance package including widened fenders, stainless steel mesh grille, and functional aluminum shaker hood. Both are supercharged, although the black car comes with a Vortech and the white packs a Procharger. Additional performance upgrades include a Pypes cat-back exhaust system, KW adjustable coilover suspension, and 15-inch Baer brakes. We love the look of both cars, and the extra wide fenders give them a particularly aggressive stance. We're sure we'd appreciate the supercharged Hemi as well.

Coach Builders Ltd. is known for its convertible conversions of the Chrysler 300C and Cadillac CTS, so after Dodge made the decision not to offer the Challenger in drop-top guise, it knew what it had to do.
The Florida-based company will bring a customized soft-top Dodge Challenger SRT8 to SEMA, packing a Vortech supercharger good for 560 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. In addition to the hydraulically powered acrylic polyester cloth roof (complete with sound and temperature insulation), the Challenger is dropped courtesy of a KW coil-over suspension over 22-inch Foose wheels coated in Nitto rubber.

While a V10-powered Challenger is devilishly delectable, our Mopar-loving hearts beat for something a bit more balanced with a healthy dose of motorsports cred. To that end, Dodge created the Challenger Targa to campaign in the Targa Newfoundland enduro earlier this year.

Dodge is looking to spur sales in Germany while at the same time increase the country's birth rate in a new marketing campaign that's one for the ages. German women who come to a Dodge dealership with proof of procreation and the resultant pregnancy will get a discount on the Dodge car or minivan of their dreams. Apparently, the birth rate in Germany is precariously low, which has led Dodge to, ahem, conceive this idea. Expecting moms get nine months (clever) deferred financing if they can present proper proof of their pregnancy. Considering women have to pee on those sticks to find out if they're preggo, we hope local German dealers have plenty of latex gloves and disinfectant on hand. When my wife had some odd cravings when she was pregnant, but never once did she ask for a Dodge.
SEMA Preview: Mopar bringing Dodge Ram R/T concept

With gas prices still leaving people numb, the Dodge Ram R/T probably won't get the reception Chrysler wants - but that doesn't mean the automaker won't give it some good car show loving: Mopar is bringing a 'roided up version of the truck to this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The blue bruiser gets the 5.7-liter HEMI with 390 horsepower, good for enough giddy up to shoot to the truck to 60 mph in under six seconds. The body gets more of the Mr. Olympia treatment: a bulging hood with dual intakes over a deep air dam, a bed cover with a spoiler, a lowered suspension over 22-inch wheels for that "Don't mess!" aggression, and obligatory racing stripes. We like the sound of all that. Come November 4, let the posedown begin.
