Porsche Gets Nostalgic for the 914 and Four-Bangers
The wave of nostalgia that's brought back the Mini, the Fiat 500 and old-school muscle cars like the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger is lapping at Porsche, which could bring back the 914 and is considering the return of four-cylinder engines.
It's no secret that Volkswagen is bringing a small mid-engined two-seater to the Los Angeles auto show in November, and with Walter de'Silva designing it, it's sure to be a stunner. What's interesting is it seems Porsche is interested in the project, raising the possibility of the 914's return as early as 2011.

Fiat's built some beautiful roadsters in its day, and after years spent cranking out subcompacts and sedans, Italy's largest automaker wants to bring back the gorgeous Dino -- with help from Lotus.
The two automakers have approved a deal that would allow Fiat to develop a version of the Elise in an arrangement similar to those that led to the Tesla Roadster, Vauxhall VX220 and Opel Speedster, according to Britain's Car magazine. The English-Italian alliance could put a new Dino in European showrooms by 2011.

The SSC Ultimate Aero snatched that title from the Veyron a year ago. Bugatti wants it back and figures boosting the car's power by 349 horsepower ought to do the trick.

Ahead of Paris, Ferrari Reveals the 2009 California

Well in advance of an official debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, Ferrari dropped a trio of photos of the 2009 California on the Web. Strongly influenced by the V-12-engined 599 GTB Fiorano and the 612 Scaglietti, the aluminum-bodied California sports the company's first retractable hard top.
