1986 Porsche 959 Prototype

Fans of Porsche in America have longed for the chance to buy a 959 ever since the German automaker produced and sold it (well, sold it everywhere but the United States...) in the 1980s. Well, they just had their chance. The car you see above is a Porsche 959 prototype built in 1986, and only one other running prototype still exists.

Video: Another cool projection vid, this time with a Porsche 911

Porsche 911 Projection Video

Porsche has become the latest automaker to take advantage of clever projection technology. The automaker worked up a quick presentation for the 2013 911 Carrera 4S to show off a bit of "motionless driving." The display tracks the sports car from production to back-road caning and city-center cruising, displaying a variety of exterior color choices and wheel options without resorting to a two-dimensional video.

Video: Seven days with eight Porsches in Europe looks how you would expect

We come across a lot of dash-cam videos, and while we may have become desensitized to the highway altercations or raceday crashes, this video left us speechless. Simply titled, "well that was 2012," it is a stunning video, chronicling the journey of a handful of Porsche 911s throughout Europe.

Official: Update on Porsche's upcoming LMP1 Le Mans entry: Weissach team hard at work [w/video]

Porsche still hasn't showed the LMP1 contender it is building for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 - in fact, there won't be any public eyeballs on it until the middle of 2013. But the Stuttgart manufacturer sure wants to make sure everyone knows it is coming, giving us another update - after the initial announcement and a retrospective video - on the car's progress even if there is no actual car yet.

Video: Porsche teasing next 911 GT3 Cup racecar with track footage

Porsche teases 911 GT3 Cup racecar with new video (screencap of front end)

While we are always brimming with anticipation when Porsche rolls out a new 911, we've sort of become accustomed to the progression of debuts that follows the new model's initial unveiling. The Carrera and Carrera S are usually followed by Cabriolet and Cabriolet S, then the Carrera 4 S and so on. It's a fun little pulling-back of the curtain, but we usually know what to expect.

9ff shows 272-mph GT9 Vmax at Essen show [w/video]

There's a scene in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps where Shia LaBoeuf asks a fellow banker, "What's your number - how much would you need to get out of the business?" The answer he gets: "More." More is apparently the operating principle at 9ff, the specialist Porsche tuner out of Germany that has showed up at Essen with its 9ff GT9 Vmax. Over the four years of the GT9's existence it has gone from 987 horsepower and a 253-mile-per-hour top speed to this, a 1,381-hp El Superbeasto with a terminal velocity said to be 271.54 mph.

Report: Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.

Video: Porsche Macan caught barely disguised in motion

Even though Porsche engineers left their Macan crossover sitting in the darkness behind a gas station in Stuttgart, it was spotted and briefly photographed and videoed. It looks like the same worse-for-wear mule's that's been popular with photographers for a few months now, its camo-clad exterior and a bit of its interior no longer secrets.

The Track Battles - rear of Pagani Huayra

EVO has come out with another gotta-watch-it video, throwing its 2012 Car of the Year contestants around the UK's 1.5-mile Blyton Park track. It's actually a 15-minute teaser for the full-length DVD detailing the magazine's Car of the Year selection, but the tease is worth every penny free second.
