Official: Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition arriving in early 2013

Porsche has been steadily bolstering its Panamera line since the car was first introduced adding models like the V6, Hybrid and GTS, and starting next year, it is adding a new model to the mix, the Panamera Platinum Edition. The 2013 Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition goes on sale on January 5, and it is only offered on the V6 models with a starting price of $80,500 for rear-wheel-drive and $84,600 for the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 version; neither of these prices includes the $975 destination charge.

Video: Porsche 962 driven through the streets of Japan

The Porsche 962 dominated racetracks, and you'll be pleased to see that it's equally at home on public roads. The video above shows a street-legal Porsche 962C prototype acting like just another daily driver in Japan.

Despite looking bouncy on the surface streets, the driver states that it's fairly easy to live with behind the wheel. To illustrate this, we're treated to the sight of a 962 tackling day-to-day mundanities like filling up at a gas station, then heading to a convenience store for a Red Bull. (Note the parking spot that's chosen.)

Reader Update: Work finally progressing on Porsche's new HQ near Atlanta

Porsche AvenueIt's been almost a year and a half since we first heard word of the plan to move the Porsche US headquarters to a former Ford Taurus plant near the Hartsfield-Atlanta International Airport. In May of 2011, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported the old Ford plant had been demolished and the ground scrubbed clean after decades of heavy industrial use left the earth contaminated. Porsche plans to build new offices as well as a test track on the property.

Porsche released a video of its 911 Carrera S lapping the Nürburgring last month, and with a time of 7:37.9, the quintessential sports coupe continues to impress. With Timo Kluck behind the wheel, this Carrera S posted better times around the 'Ring than the 997 911 Turbo and, according to PorscheBoost, it even knocked a full two seconds off the time the Carrera S recorded last year.
